Juman & Juman: A New Server for an Existing Client
Vectrocon Computer Consulting first began working with the law offices of Juman
and Juman in 2003. At the time, Michele Simkovich contracted Vectrocon to
complete a major upgrade of the infrastructure at the firm’s office.
Vectrocon completed that task and provided ongoing fixed fee support under its
Technosurety? program. By 2008, Vectrocon persuaded Steven Juman, principal of
Juman and Juman, that the infrastructure required updating. Vectrocon started
with the server, whose performance had degraded and was now limiting the
ability of the firm to enforce best practices for maintaining an optimal
network.
Vectrocon created a project plan, coordinated with Juman staff and installed and
transitioned the new server with minimal impact to the organization. The
installation included transferring security elements, moving several databases
and transferring key files and links between the client computers and the
server.
Like most projects, there were several glitches. One incident stemmed from some
of the older computers’ inability to be automatically migrated from the old
server to the new. Vectrocon simply performed the steps that were required
manually. Since this impacted only 2 machines the time required to correct the
aberration was small.
Vectrocon continues to serve Juman and Juman via its Technosurety? service and
will soon be deploying new workstations for the firm.
